A gas station romance: Katie Stratton

If you haven't visited Katie's blog: Katie's Pencil Box, I think you probably should take a minute out of your very hectic Monday and discover the beauty of a true artist. Her words, her art, her photography take my breath away. She will inspire you out of your pajamas and make you want to pick up a brush and paint, even if you have never painted before.

how did you know you were in love?

when matt and i met, i wasn't in much of a place to be in love. i very much fought against it...and he was the most patient with me. he waited and waited and waited some more for me. we joked that when i really and truly was in love with him i would take us somewhere fancy to celebrate...like the hot dog island at the gas station. most nights he would drive past a gas station and ask if i was ready for a hot dog....i would laugh and say "we'll see".

after months of friendship and dating, one day i realized i couldn't breathe when i looked at him and never really cared to breathe again. i took him to the gas station and put a hot dog in his hand. we stood there and laughed and cried a little bit. we sat on the floor and ate our hot dogs and were promptly kicked out for loitering. haha.

it's been a couple years and i still can't breathe when i look at him. and gas station hot dogs will forever be the most romantic food in the world to us.

i will be featuring different pieces of some of my favorite bloggers and readers' love stories throughout the month of February since it is the month of love and all. So don't be alarmed if you have lots of posts from me this month. Happy "love" making, and I mean that in the cleanest way.

  8. I so agree with you. Katie is such an inspiration, in both the gorgeous photography and the beautiful way she is able to express herself in writing. Her love for her 'boys' and child on the way, is palpable.

  9. Great story. People underestimate the power of a hot dog.
